Guest Testimonials

This small compound of casitas is a wonderful way to experience Santa Fe. We stayed in a different casita in this lovely place on the historic eastside in 2012, and couldn't conceive of staying anywhere else after such a great time. The owner is helpful and friendly, and the location in a protected compound on and eastside hill with views of the mountains and the city could not be beat. Fortunately, for this trip another casita was available int he same old adobe house, and it did not disappoint. This old adobe was so cool without AC in the summer, and the views and breezes were wonderful. We watched the sunset from the kitchen window every evening. It was quite a treat to walk out the back gate and be on an access trail for hiking on the Dale Ball trails. Santa Fe, for us, is about the interplay between indoor charm and enchanting outdoor spaces, and this small compound provides beautiful patios, gardens and portals as well as lovely interiors, decorated in quintessential Santa Fe style by the owner. She is available but never intrusive. The gated compound makes you feel safe and comfortable, and guests have the opportunity to interact but plenty of privacy as well. I will stay with these lovely people in the beautiful place whenever I need a place in Santa Fe.

Jean

All needs are met in this fabulous casita. Easy, friendly and comfortable, nothing is left to chance as the owner is gracious, available and kind beyond expectation. One "lives" here and has access to the bes to Santa Fe either by auto or on foot. It was truly a home for me complete with lovely Meks, the beautifu German Shepherd who became my reading companion for morning coffee and sunrise on the east deck. I was here often enjoying the butterflies, hummingbirds and flowers of the garden while watching the cloud formations above the mountains at sunrise and sunset.

The bedroom is spacious and the bed is very comfortable. There is abundant closet and bureau space. The bathroom is astounding, large and bright. I enjoyed the gas stove of the well organized kitchen. The sitting room is comfortable, with a fireplace, writing desk and eclectic comfortable furnishings. Absolutely nothing was lacking.

I walked to concerts at the nearby college, walked down the street to the galleries and restaurants of Canyon Road and walked to the Plaza. Additionally, I hiked mountain trails with MEET UP groups all within 15-45 minutes drive time of this home. Day trips to Los Alamos, Taos and Pecos were simple and fun. The Opera House and ski slopes are a quick drive as well.

This is, by far, the best VRBO I've visited, for attention to detail and having staple needs met witout the necessity of rushing to find a grocer upon arrival. It is also the most secure I've felt in a VRBO. My return trip is booked for 2016.

Magical and Serene

This is a great casita in a unique Santa Fe neighborhood with a wonderful, accommodating owner who will make sure you have everything you need. One of the best in the city trail systems in the Southwest is right outside the door and we could walk down to the Plaza on a variety of routes through the most interesting historic neighborhoods. The casita is a beautifully remodeled adobe house with great patio space and views of the valley.

Historic Adobe casita

I stayed at Chica Casita for three months from September until December. I had an absolutely wonderful experience. The place was very conveniently located both for going to downtown Santa Fe and for shopping. Also only a five minute drive from great hiking. There were very few issues that arose because the place was in great shape, but the couple of problems I did have Nancy responded immediately and solved the problem. I Highly recommend staying here for any amount of time.

Guest Testimonials

We stayed in casa Vieja for the entire month of August with our two small dogs and it was prety much perfection. The house is a genuine old Santa Fe adobe that the owner keeps immaculately maintained. Casa Vieja is cozy, comfy and tastefully decorated. It is located in a gated compound with three houses on the property, in a quiet neighborhood in the interesting (to us) historic older part of Santa Fe. A great deal of thought and care was put into the interior decoration of the house which is filled with beautiful furniture, oriental rugs, art and antiques. The mattress was comfortable, the sheets and towels were high quality. The tile work int he bathroom is especially exquisite. The kitchen is a pleasure to work in and is fully stocked with plates, cutlery, pots and pans. the thick adobe walls keep the house cool, even when it is hot outside and there are plenty of windows to open for good cross breeze. the house has a fenced courtyard garden which is a lovely place to sit in and drink coffee in the morning. Everything was spanking clean when we arrived and for a reasonable fee, he had Nancy's housekeeper come in and clean once a week.

Apodaca Hill is an interesting neighborhood and you can walk to Canyon Road, the Plaza or Museum Hill from Casa Vieja.

I have saved the best for last--Nancy was the perfect hostess, she was attentive and responsive to our needs, but not obtrusive. We hope to return next year.

Couldn't have been any better

We stayed here for 3 1/2 months this winter and even though El Nino brought lots of snow, the casita was always warm and cozy, radiant heated floors and adobe do the trick! The neighborhood is quiet, real Santa Fe, and near enough to the center of town and Museum Hill. The kitchen is open and large, easy for two to share cooking duties. Nice fireplace, fun design. Great washer and dryer, very new. closet is more than adequate. Nancy attends to any problems/concerns right away, yet she never intrudes on your privacy. Final note, her two dogs are very friendly and fun to have around.

Casa Vieja

Casa Vieja is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood, convenient to everything the city and environs have to offer (hiking, parks, plaza, museums, Canyon road and galleries). It is private, clean, quiet and comfortable (firm bed, warm (in a cold November), hot H2O, washer/dryer, lots of storage) chock full of any/all amenities to make you stay a pleaseant one. There is a private outdoor sitting/eating space, a fenced yard and privae off-street parking.

The decor is a wonderful/beautiful blend of antique and southwest style. And charming with a capital CH.

Nancy, Peter, Chi Chi and Meka are great hosts and great company. And charming with a capital CH>

We stayed for a month, "couldn't have enjoyed our stay more, didn't want to go, and want to go back.

N,P,CC and M: Thanks fo much.

Casa Vieja: the perfect place to stay in Santa FE

We chose our casita with concern since we had never used VRBO and this listing seemed too good! Historic east side, walkable to town, hiking in your backyard, gated private compound, reasonable price. This casita was all that and much, much more. Nancy And Peter (our hosts) were wonderful, and recommended all sorts of things to do in this beautiful city. both of them wen way beyond the usual host activities and made our stay effortless and fun.

The casita is located in a private quiet gated compound on a hill above the city with city and mountain views, hiking through the gate in the fence and morning roosters and donkey. You should be comfortable with country sounds and dogs``the hosts have two sweet friendly dogs who like to visit. This was a plus for us since we missed our own pets, and the dos are well-behaved and easy to deal with. This casita is in a compound on 3/4 of an acre, on which there is a second guest casita and the owner's home. Nancy and Peter are always available but respectful of guests' privacy so it's a win/win situation.

The casita itself is larger and more elegant than we expected, with a well equipped full kitchen and separate dining room with windows all around for air and light. the main room is quite large, with easy room for the queen bed (very comfortable and good for backs), lots of attractive antique furniture, and a comfy leather sofa. We enjoyed the fre WiFi and flat-screened tV.The bathroom is large and well appointed, there are huge closets, and the private laundry was great to have. The casita is easily walkable to town (1.8 miles)via historic east Alameda, if you are moderately fit and have the time. You can walk to Canyon Road galleries very easily, and to the Plaza for nighttime events, concerts, foods etc.

I started every morning with coffee on our private breezy covered portal (porch) and often ended the day there as well. My husband loved to pick delicious fruit from the apricot, apple and pear trees, and we at grapes from the vines covering the gazebo, where we sometimes had dinner as we watched the blinking city lights. We loved opening all the windows at night to the breeze and night sounds, and felt  very safe and comfortable with both door and windows open.

We couldn't have asked for more. We had an idyllic stay in Santa Fe, and will definitely return to the wonderful casita, hopefully this Christmas.

To good to be true, but it was!!

I had the most wonderful six weeks staying in Santa Fe this summer for grad school. The biggest reason it was so wonderful is because of owners Nancy and Peter's hospitality. They provided a relaxing, picturesque, little-piece-of-paradise for me and only .7 mile to St. John's campus.

I ate breakfast every morning on one of the two patios where I was invariably visited by Meka, their beautiful and loveable german shepherd. I was able to run a route on upper Canyon Road. The picture so the casita don't do it justice. the unique doors in the house are gorgeous. I never got tire of looking at them. The casita is spacious. Large closets. It is well appointed with antiques, and one-of-a-kind furniture. So homey and comfortable.

I read on the couch on front patio every day and even wrote a few chapters out there.

the accommodations were top quality and Nancy and Peter went out of their way to make me comfortable and were always ready with Santa Fe sightseeing and restaurant ideas.

The compound is enclosed with and electronic gate which made me feel safe and sound.

I am going back to graduate next summer and feel very luck to be able to stay in the casita again.

Can't wait!

We spent a snowy 3 months in Santa Fe, but the casita was alway warm and cozy…thanks of radiant floor heat and double adobe walls. It is a pleasant space! The neighborhood is authentic Santa Fe and very convenient to city center, museum hill, Canyon Road… quiet too. The kitchen is large and sunny, and the washer/dryer is very new and large. Nancy is available by respectful of the tenants' privacy.  Her dogs are most welcoming and fun to have around.

Warm and Cozy

Experience the real feeling of Southwestern Adobe living in this spacious, beautifully appointed casita within walking distance of Canyon Road art galleries and El Farrol restaurant. This gated compound is private and secure.

We enjoyed leisurely strolls into town for the Fourth of July festivities and Indian Market.

Nancy, the owner/operator of the estate, is on-site. She is friendly, helpful and informative. She is there if you need her, but respect your privacy.

Santa Fe has year round cultural events which are easily accessible from Nancy's Casitas. We highly recommend a stay or return stay.

Apodaca Hill, Santa Fe, NM

We spent 4 1/2 months living in this lovely casita during the fall/winter of 2014-15. The location was ideal for us. Access to the Dale ball trail system is at the back gate of the compound, and we hiked the Dorothy Stewart trail almost daily. Canyon Road is a short walk from the front gate and the Plaza was only half an hour's walk away. We rarely used our car.

The casita is in a compound that consist of the owner's house at the top of the driveway, a duplex vacation rental half way down and then this casita, tucked away at the bottom of the driveway. It was very quid. No rad noise at all. All you hear in the morning are the birds. It has a very private feeling. ON warm mornings we sat outside and drank our coffee on the portal in front of the house and felt as though we had the place to ourselves. It was delightful.

Inside, the casita is comfortable and very completely furnished with everything you need for your stay. There are special touches-fossilee embedded here and there int he plaster walls, decorative tile in the bathroom, niches and the fireplace. The decor is int he traditional norther New Mexican style, with all its warmth and charm. The open floor plan makes the casita feel spacious, and the in-floor hearing kept us warm even on the coldest nights. The mattress was very comfortable, the water pressure good for showers and there was plenty of hot water for soaks int he tub.

We love to cook and used the all laid out and well-equipped kitchen to prepare delightful meals. the big fridge and large pantry cupboard allowed us to store plenty of food supplies. the huge beautiful solid wood dining table accommodated gatherings with our Santa Fe family and friends. The casita has lots of storage space-the-walk-in closet in the bedroom is like its own little room!- and so the living space stay uncluttered with your personal belongings.

The owner truly want to make your stay pleasant and comfortable, and is very responsive to guests' requests. Her two friendly dogs don't intrude on guests at all, and are very sweet to greet when you walk into the compound.

The casita offered the best of Santa Fe for us - a pleasant and comfortable interior environment set in a location that offered access to hiking, cultural activities and venues, and coffee shops, bookstores, and restaurants. We couldn't recommend it more highly for your Santa Fe stay.

Charming, comfortable home in perfect location

Our 2nd year at the casita. Loved it. A month just doesn't seem long enough. Had many chats with owners Peter and Nancy. Great people. My husband loves the kitchen, lots of prep space and a gas stove! Good start for a bike ride down Canyon Road and into the Plaza. The casita is private and quiet, important for a relaxing stay in a busy town like Santa Fe. We have our booking for next year already, and probably will do for many years to come. We have been coming to Santa Fe for over 20 years. We really love this place….so should you!!!

We had the pleasure of spending three and a half months at Casita Escondida while looking for a home to purchase. The serenity we felt in this spacious casita made a stressful time more than tolerable. Our charming hostess, Nancy, was friendly and helpful in making us feel right at home. We would absolutely stay there in the future except we did find the home of our dreams.

Designation

This rental is spacious and modern, conveniently located to both Dal Ball trails and to town (the latter is a longish walk, but doable and easily biked) We liked the combination of newly built but in the traditional Santa Fe style; as well as feeling close in yet having a bit of country! We enjoyed the owner's dogs and especially her great hospitality. She brought fresh apricots, made sure we had easy access to a grill when I mentioned it, and did everything possible to assure a wonderful stay. We'll definitely be back and hope my good words don't mean there won't be room at the inn!!

What a fantastic place to stay.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★

It pains me to give such a high review because others will want to stay there and it won't be available when we'd like to stay again. But, we enjoyed it so much that we went ahead and reserved it again for 2 months before writing this review, so, we would be able to secure this property again. You couldn't ask for a better location. It's within walking distance to Canyn Drive and scores of art galleries. The museums are nearby and a very short walk to public transportation. The moutains and skiing is less than 15 miles from your door. As you can see from the photos the property is furnished with wonderful antiques and original works of art. The views are spectacular. The beds are comfortable as is the furnishings. The internet is very fast and Netflix and on Demand is provided. They even have a DVR so you can reecord your favorite shows. Who provides all that? The parking is very secure and right by the door. The neighbors are friendly and so down to earth. Nancy, the property manager, is the absolute best ever. If you have any propery questions, concerns, or fixes, rest assured they will be addressed ASAP. The tap water is so pure, it is the only place we've ever stayed where we could drink directly from the tap without additional purification or flavor enhancement. The property only rents by the month, but the time goes too quickly and that's why we've rented it again for 2 months for the next time. We've only been gone a short while and are still suffering from withdrawal pains. We could easily write more accolades but decided to leave a bit for you to discover on your own. Enjoy!

This spacious adobe home has high beamed ceilings, and open floor plan and lots of natural light. Most of the windows face a green space as does the deck which is just off the living room through large sliding glass doors. A family of deer often pass by in the arroyo. This casa has a queen sized memory foam bed, walk in closet, full bathroom with separate tub and shower. It has radiant heat for the winter and features porcelain tile floors. A kiva fireplace is centered in the living room. The kitchen is fully furnished with cookware, dinnerware, utensils and has a gas stove and dishwasher. There is full sized washer and dryer in the casa. Air conditioning has recently been added.

An adobe wall in front of the house forms a courtyard off the portal. It is gated and works well with the doggy door. There are two off street parking spots near your front door.

  • Rent includes all utilities and high speed internet.

Note: This is a new rental and the reviews are just holding places at this time. They will be replaced by authentic ones as soon as we have them
